Laurence Papoutchian

Based in Lyon 06, I am a photographer-author who specialises in wedding photography, committed to offering a distinctive vision of your day. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts and a photographer since 1996, I combine documentary sensitivity with historical craft to deliver wedding images that stand outside of time. My approach is to prioritise authentic moments, light and composition in order to convey presence and emotion. My wedding reportage practice is about being a discreet yet engaged presence: I aim to capture bonds, gestures and feelings without imposing on them. Each reportage is built as a visual narrative where shared instants become the building blocks of a personal story. In parallel, I offer a rare, tactile experience — wet-plate collodion photography — which transforms a portrait into a unique object (ferrotype, ambrotype on aluminium or glass). Including collodion work in your event means giving your guests and yourselves a tangible, artisanal and timeless memento. How I work: before the day I like to talk with you to understand your expectations, priorities and the atmosphere you want to preserve. On the wedding day, I alternate documentary observation with selected interventions: setting up a studio for a collodion demonstration, posed portraits if you wish, and discreet immersion for natural sequences. After the wedding, I offer studio appointments for collodion portraits or to review the images together and consider prints or a book — every image can become a genuine photographic object. What sets me apart is a dual practice — digital for reportage and collodion for portrait-objects — and an authorial approach that values each person’s singularity. My aim is as much to capture the truth of moments as it is to celebrate the material beauty of the image.
